19. What do you think is the ONE (1) most important issue facing the state of Maine? Taxes

20. The most recent Federal Census shows that 22 % of Maine’s youth between the ages of 20-34 have left the state since 1990 to seek opportunity elsewhere. The national average out-migration for this age group is only 5%. If elected, what do you think state government can do to help keep our youth and prime workforce here in Maine? I feel that we need to create more jobs for the youth in Maine. We pour a lot of money into our University system and while most Maine college graduates want to stay in Maine, most are forced to leave the state to obtain higher-paying jobs. The ones that do stay in Maine tend to live in the Southern half of the state. We need to lower taxes on businesses so more companies will locate to Maine and hire more Maine graduates.
